WE GET YOUTH TALKING
Each year, one in six youth experience a mental health disorder. These youth sometimes struggle to be heard. Many never seek help.
Text, Talk, Act uses text messaging, paired with small group discussions, to quickly get youth talking and connected to resources.
Our activity is highly engaging for today’s youth and includes live polling, videos, and social media interactions.
HOW IT WORKS
Text, Talk, Act is an innovative, transformative approach to youth mental health, specifically targeting Arizona students in grades 4-12. We integrate age-appropriate lessons that address critical challenges within the community’s behavioral health system, connect youth to services, and foster a culture that prioritizes emotional well-being. We aim to implement school-wide initiatives across Arizona, offering structured lessons on mental health, bullying prevention, cyberbullying, and substance abuse.
RAISE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS
When a young person experiences a mental health challenge, they often think they are the only ones who struggle. Our activities teach them that they are not alone, and through conversation with their peers, they learn about other people’s challenges and triumphs. When we talk openly about mental health, bullying prevention, online safety and substance abuse, we remove the stigma and learn that it’s ok to not be ok – and that there are ways to get better.
